What is health?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), health is defined as "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity."
Physical health: Good body function and lifestyle, such as balanced diet, regular exercise, good personal hygiene, sufficient rest and sleep, limiting alcohol use, and avoiding smoking and drug abuse.
Mental health: Optimistic and cheerful mood, able to cope with stress and actively face difficulties, and willing to share with others and express one's feelings.
Social health: Establish a good relationship with people, participate in wholesome activities, and broaden individual's social circle and horizons.
How to stay healthy?
Human body is certainly a masterpiece of nature that we were born with immunity and self-healing ability. Though our body complexities cannot be fully understood, health scientists have found out the major factors affecting our health, generally speaking, can be categorized as follows.
Out of the four factors, lifestyle counts the most. Also, it is the only factor that we can alter. If we continually practice damaging or self-defeating lifestyles, we will suffer from recurrent and chronic health problems along with frequent clinic visit, lifetime drug companion, and occasional hospitalization and surgery.
Thus, we should live in a healthy way immediately by:
- Balance diets and sufficient nutrients intake
- Enough rest and plenty of sleep
- Encourage variety of interests
- Ease the pressure and stress.
